Stairlift Buying Process

Having a stairlift installed by First Blue Mobility is a quick and simple process, it takes just a few easy steps.

1

Step 1

To be able to give you a basic quote we will first need some information about your personal preferences and your staircase.

Do you need a straight or curved stairlift?

The shape of your staircase is the main factor in the design of your stairlift and will dictate how it will be fitted:

  • A straight staircase has no partial landings or curves and runs in a straight line.
  • A curved staircase is as it suggests curves from top to bottom or anywhere in between, they can have turns and half-landings.

If your staircase looks different to those in the images below it’s not a problem, all our stairlifts are created individually and we assess your staircase before installation.

Access area

We need to know about the area at the top and bottom of your stairs.

There should be enough room for the stairlift at the top and bottom of the stairs. Having adequate room to get on and off the stairlift is important. The space needs to be clear of doors and any other obstructions. Even if room is tight we always have a solution such as our space-saving options.

Type of Seat

The choice of seat is down to personal preference and individual needs. Initially we need to know if you require a fixed or swivel seat. Some people prefer to have a swivel seat which makes it easier to get on and off.

Quote

Our basic prices start from £1590 for a new straight stairlift and £3299 for a curved stairlift which includes a 3 year warranty with service. See our stairlift price guide for more information.

At this stage, we can give you a quote based on the information you have given us. If you decide you want to explore more and get an exact quote, we can arrange with you a convenient time to visit your home. This will enable us to fully assess your needs, your home and any other features you may want to include.

Step 2

Next-Day Survey

Once you give us the go-ahead and are happy to move forwards, the next stage is to complete a full assessment in your home. If you want to move things along quickly, we are happy to arrange a next-day service.

We will measure your staircase, make a note of anything relevant to the installation and discuss with you your personal preferences. From this, we can put together a comprehensive installation plan and give you an exact price for the supply and fitting of your stairlift.

You can rest assured that our surveyors are not salespeople, their role is to ensure that your needs are addressed and everything is correct. It is at this point that you can choose your personal preference.

Step 3

Installation

If you are happy to move forward, we will ask for a deposit so we can manufacture your lift and arrange an installation time. This usually takes 10 to 14 days, with curved stairlifts taking a little longer because their design is more complex than a straight staircase. All stairlifts comply with the latest safety standards and are factory checked before being fitted.

Rest assured our competent and experienced First Blue Mobility engineers typically take around 3 to 4 hours to install your lift. They will ensure disruption to your home is kept to a minimum and will always leave your home exactly as it was before installation.

Aftercare

Your stairlift has been fitted, it’s time to celebrate. Once your stairlift has been installed you will be shown how to use it and provided with full user instructions. However, once our engineers have left do not worry if there is something you need help with, as we will always leave you with an emergency helpline. Plus, you have peace of mind that our lifts come with a 3-year warranty which also includes an annual service.
